Rhythm of emotion

As spirits of the universe with boundaryless emotion, Sen believes that women deeply touch every dimension of all living beings.

He says that through their inner beauty, women have an affinity with the environment and all creatures around them, as well as a profound traditional and contemporary knowledge of natural resources. Treated in most cultures like family slaves for child delivery, he says women’s superior emotional worth is not valued. Men may challenge him, but he asks, aside from physical muscle power, what more of consequence do they have?

In the paintings themed “Rhythm of emotion” Sen expresses his intrigue over women possessing natural elegance and courage. He marvels at how with nurturing kindness and intelligence they spontaneously and sensitively tackle circumstances while interacting with all beings.

INDIA’S BLOODY INDEPENDENCEIN 1947

When India was partitioned 1947 to create Pakistan, a new country for Muslims, about 20 million people of Bengal and Punjab were displaced and brutally victimized. Sen’s wealthy, literate family had huge landed property in erstwhile East Bengal, the present Bangladesh, which was carved out to be East Pakistan for Muslims. So for being Hindus Sen’s family was overnight evicted from their home. Without taking any possessions, they fled for their lives amidst people warring over religion, and so became squatted refugees in West Bengal.
