"A Sen Shombit painting jolts the viewer into attention. The interplay of abstraction and figuration is a playful and perpetual game of hide-and-seek."

Flirting 2019. Acrylic on Canvas - 240 x 200 cm
Meaning of Abstract with hidden figuratives, a new and unpublished painting style created by Sen Shombit since 2005.
Narrative to illustrate the unique style: When you see this painting called “Flirting” above, you can only see a burst of colours on the canvas in abstract form. Upfront you may not depict any figuratives. If you pay curious attention, you will find a rhinoceros, a bird and a woman. They are intertwined, they are flirting. For Sen, this flirting represents a woman’s platonic imagination. The size of the creatures in reality is not of consequence, in nature everyone enjoys the status you give to them. If you do not discover any figuratives in the style of Abstract with hidden figuratives, you can enjoy the colours in abstraction.
Historical reference: Abstract and Figurative are two separate art movements that have existed in Europe since a long time.
Invention of a new style: Sen has enmeshed the two art movements in a tight twist. This intertwine reveals an innovative blend of newness in every encounter with his paintings which have no predetermined schematic boundary.
Sen has a discomfort with the pervasiveness of digitization today. He says its repetitive virtual distortion is flattening the world, exposing everything in society’s day to day life, and leaving it devoid of mystery. He revolts against this virtual misrepresentation and monotony. According to him, every human being yearns for something that’s hidden, a private garden to enjoy with a nonchalant personal flair, a space where personal nuances flourish, away from the prying eyes of an overly exposed digital world.
The absence of the secreted private garden has led Sen to create an experience that will expose the hidden aspect differently for different people. After a lot of visual treatment experience and research, since 2005, he has come to an inventive burner to interweave both Abstract and Figurative art movements through a window of hidden twists. And so emerged “Abstract with Hidden Figuratives”, the new, previously unpublished painting style of Sen Shombit that invites each viewer to embark on a personal journey of discovery within his paintings.
